: Safety Procedures to Follow during a Hotel Stay

You want to follow certain safety procedures during your hotel stay to increase the chances of a safe trip. There are many safety policies that you should follow.
Lock all doors all the time
Locking doors is a very simple way to protect yourself during a hotel stay. Fortunately, many hotel doors automatically swing closed and then lock. There are usually extra bolts, however, and you should use these whenever you are in the room. Also, the automatic door will be of no use if you just prop the door open. If several people will be coming back and forth then ask for a second key or card instead of keeping the door open. Unfortunately many criminals simply walk right through unlocked doors.
Wear socks or shoes in the hotel room
You can get an infection if you walk in a hotel room with bare feet. Many people may have walked in the same room before you and you do not know what issues they may have had. You also may want to wear flip-flops when you take a shower.
Disinfect the toilet/shower
You may want to quickly spray down the toilet with a disinfecting spray or just wipe it with alcohol. Even if it has been cleaned, you do not know how clean it truly is. You should also clean the bathtub if you are planning on taking a bath.
Keep valuables hidden or in the safe
Many hotel rooms have safes in them. You may want to keep anything that is worth a lot in there. Sometimes the hotel will have a central safe where you can keep items of value. You can also try to hide your valuables in the room, but remember that there are only so many places to hide things and many robbers are well aware of them. Of course it may be best to not leave anything valuable in the hotel room at all, especially if you are not in there.
Keep your keys with you at all times
You do not want to accidently leave your key at the pool area. You should make sure to keep careful track of it so that it does not get lost.
A hotel stay should be nice and comfortable, and you do not want to have to worry about your safety while you are there. Follow the above safety tips to minimize the probability of a problem.
