Simple Fabric Gifts you can Make yourself
A homemade fabric gift can be a wonderful present. There are many simple gifts that even someone who isn’t very artistic might be able to make. Consider the following ideas.
Purse/bag
You can make a simple purse or bag as a gift for someone. You can take some nice fabric of your choice and just fold it for a simple bag design. You can sew it by hand or with a machine. You can add a fabric handle or something made of another material such as a string of beads for a handle. You can then decorate the bag if you’d like. You can use fabric paints of fabric markers to design something on it. You can sew on appliqué. There are even things that you can simply iron on. You can glue on sequins or sew on beads. You can customize it by putting on the name of your gift recipient.
Scarf
You can make a nice scarf as an easy fabric craft. You simply need to take some fabric and cut it into the size and shape of the scarf that you want. You can hem the edges if you want. You can pick a very pretty fabric to make it a nice gift. You can decorate it as described above if you would like to make it more extravagant. Alternatively you could make a wrap or a shawl. These can be cut from one piece of fabric, which can make them much easier to do. You can find a pattern for it or make your own pattern. You can also take a wrap, shawl or scarf that you already own and use it as a base for the new one that you are going to make.
Hanging display
You can use fabric to make some sort of piece of art. You can take any size of fabric you want. You can then decorate it by adding other pieces of fabric. You can also use fabric markers, paint and embellishment as described above.
Doll blanket
If you are making the gift for a child, then one easy idea is to make a doll blanket. You can take a pretty fabric that a girl would like such as something with princesses or ballerinas. You can then just cut it in the right shape and hem the ends. You can also make a simple pillow to go with it.
