Bulletin Board Ideas George Washington
It is important for primary school children to learn about America’s first president, George Washington. A bulletin board can help show the amazing accomplishments of this man. Consider including the following items when making your board.
Timeline of his life
You might want to start off by describing what life was like for George Washington as a child. Many children might find this interesting, and it might make it easier to relate to him. You can talk about what he did in order to get to where he got. You can show pictures and paintings that are well known. You can talk about the world in which he lived and how he learned and made the decisions that he did. When you are writing these out, make sure that it is simple enough for the kids to understand. A lot of kids like pictures, and this might draw them in more.
Accomplishments
George Washington had many accomplishments. You can talk about the birth of the country from the perspective of this amazing man. You can show pictures of famous scenes from American history. Of course, make sure that it is age appropriate. You do not want something too violent for the young children.
His role as president
George Washington did many different things as president than the president does today. You can discuss what his life would have been like at that time and what is different and the same from today. You can write out the general daily events that he performed. You can then have a discussion with the children on how they would have liked that role.
Place up the children’s work
The children might learn bets by doing rather than just looking at the board. You can have them draw a picture of George Washington or write down something about his accomplishments. You can then post these up there to supplement your board.
When crafting your George Washington you want it to be physically attractive. You can make the background red, white or blue or put up something like patriotic wrapping paper with flags on it or even some sort of Americana fabric. You can also add embellishments like glitter fireworks or star stickers. You can also post up some things with his image such as replicas of dollar bills and famous paintings. With a little work and a lot of creativity you can make a board that is both interesting and attractive.
