The iPhone is an extremely popular smartphone, and many people rush out to get them at the first moment the new version is available. However, there are some things you may want to consider before making this purchase, including the following.
Consider the recent problems the new version has
The new iPhone has come out with some problems. It has been to such an extent that consumer powerhouse Consumer Reports is not recommending it, even after the free fix bumper that Apple is offering to consumers. Even if it allows you to do a lot of things, some people complain about the phone’s reception. You may want to make a call on someone else’s before you make this purchase.
The plans are expensive
The plans for the iPhone are not inexpensive and they range depending on what package you get. You might be able to get something similar for cheaper from a competing company. In addition to the base cost, you have to add a significant amount of money for taxes. Month after month these costs add up.
Consider that you are stuck in a contract
When you get the iPhone through the regular channels, you will probably end up in a contract. You need to decide whether you want to be in such a contract. If you are not happy with your service you will be stuck or have to pay for a significant cancellation fee.
Do you want AT&T?
Currently AT&T is the American company offering the iPhone. A lot of people do not like this company while some like it a lot. You should decide whether this is for you.
Consider the other smartphones
There are many other smartphones on the market, and a lot of people rate them higher than the iPhone. Sometimes a product gets a lot of hype but is not necessarily better for everyone. You might want to try out the other options such as the Samsung Moment and the HTC Hero. The HTC Evo from Sprint offers a lot of great features such as letting you tether up to five laptops as a wireless hotspot, getting them online. Also, some smartphones offer actual physical keyboards, which the iPhone does no. Some people like the Android operating system better.
The iPhone is the right smartphone for some but the wrong one for others. Consider the above points when deciding whether it is right for you.
