: Things to consider when Creating a Business Logo

(437 Words)
A business logo can help you attract customers, distinguish yourself to clients and more. It will be the symbol of your company, and you want to think long and hard when creating it. Consider the following factors when designing it.
Is it unique?
You do not want something that looks just like the Nike Swoosh. First of all, if you get too close to something else, you could end up getting sued, but you also want to have something that is your own. You want people to take notice of it and start to associate it with your company and not with anyone else.
Keep it simple, stupid.
Some people get so intricate in their logos that it leaves people scratching their heads and wondering what they saw. You do not want people to be confused trying to figure out exactly what picture you have drawn. You also do not want it taking up too much room either. There is nothing intricate about the aforementioned Nike logo but it does well.
Consider whether color is a part of it
You can consider different colors if you choose to incorporate this into your logo. First, there are some colors that draw people in such as a bright red. Of course, they also portray certain emotions such as red being of excitement, passion or daring. Some are considered more earthy or warm colors. Blue might remind people of the ocean or the sky, for instance. Others are not as well-liked such as gray. Also think about whether you will be incorporating the color into most of your materials. For instance, let’s say you have a rather plain logo but the color makes it very nice. Now perhaps most of your materials are newsletters that are only in black and white. You might want to consider a business logo that is more interesting regardless of the color if this is how it will often be appearing.
How does it associate with the business?
A lot of people like to choose a business logo that goes along with their theme. It might utilize the initials of the business, for instance. It might be representative such as something that looks like a tennis racket for a tennis equipment company. Again, you want people to think of you when they see the logo.
A business logo can identify you to the world. It is not always easy to change once you have incorporated it into your materials, so you should spend the time to pick out a good one from the very beginning. Use the above tips to help you make this selection.
