: Things you should never do to your Hair

There are some things you should never do to your hair. Some of this will depend on what your abilities are with regards to hair care and maintenance. Consider the following points when deciding the different strategies and methods you should – and should not – take with your hair.
Do not use a clothes iron on your hair
You may want to get your hair straight. For most, however, using a regular iron for clothes is not a good way to accomplish this. You could end up easily burning your hair. What’s more, you can end up burning yourself if you are not careful! It can be difficult to handle one of these and to figure out the perfect temperature that would straighten your hair without burning it. You certainly do not want to get close to your scalp with one of those! Instead you can use a straightening iron made for hair or just use a hair dryer to blow it out.
Do not give yourself a complicated haircut if you have no idea what you are doing
Let’s say you have never cut hair before. You look at a design book and say I can do that. You get out your kitchen scissors from the drawer and start to hack away. This is probably a very bad idea. Not only are you very unlikely to actually get what the design book shows but you are likely to get something that is very scary. A bad haircut can last a very long time and is not always easily repaired. Your best friend may become a hat.
Do not make and use your own hair dye
If you want to dye your hair you may want to go to the salon or buy a commercial hair dye. Some people try to make their own concoctions. Unless you truly know what you are doing you could end up with something far less than desirable. You might end up with green hair when you are going for red! What’s more, you might also damage your hair, even to the extent that you have to cut it. Also, when you are mixing chemicals you can even end up combining two that can be dangerous together such as if you combine something with ammonia and something with Clorox. Also, it is important to never just guess how to dye your hair even when using a commercial product. Make sure that you read all directions fully.
Of course there are other obvious things you should never do to your hair such as setting it on fire. (Unfortunately some people who have had too much to drink have learned this lesson the hard way). Also try to avoid the above activities.
