Tips for Applying Blush

(460 Words)
Blush can make you look younger, prettier and simply more attractive. It is very important to put it on correctly, because it is very easy to apply it too heavily and make it appear like too much. Take a step-by-step approach to put on your blush.
First, you need to pick the perfect blush for you. If you have oily skin, then you may want a powder or a gel blush. Someone with normal or dry skin might want a cream type of blush. It is important for the blush to look natural, and to do this you want to think about the color that you naturally turn when you blush. Try to match this. You don’t want it to be too bright. It should not look like you are wearing makeup, but it should instead complement you.
You also want to make sure you have the right brush to put on the blush. They make brushes that are specifically made to apply blush. This can make a big difference in how it looks when it goes on.
Get the right amount of blush onto the brush. For powder, this means sweeping the brush through the makeup. You can get rid of excess blush by tapping it. With cream or gel, use a finger to get a little of the makeup on it. You want to begin small. Remember that you can always add more makeup to your face, but it is difficult to take off the blush once you have are already applied it. This is especially true if you have other makeup on that you would have to redo as well.
Suck in your cheeks so that you can locate your cheeks’ apples. These are the rounded parts near the top of your cheeks.
Start applying the blush in the middle of the apple. Blend in the color to your cheekbone. Make sure to blend a lot so that it looks very natural. With creams, you can blend with your finger or a sponge.
Swipe the brush outward along your cheeks. Try to make the lines horizontal to appear more natural. If necessary, use another brush to blend further. When you are done, you want to brush down so that your facial hairs go the right direction. You can also get a younger appearance if you do not go further down then your nose and no more towards the center than your eye’s pupil. A translucent powder can help finish the look.
Practice applying the blush and make sure that it does not appear as too much. You can always add powder to it to try to tame the look if you go overboard. With practice, you will learn to apply the blush in the most attractive manner.
