A human resource associate plays an important role in a company. They manage what is arguably the most important resource of all of a business – the employees. Their job encompasses a variety of important roles.
The first important role that a human resource associate may play is to conduct some, if not all, of the hiring. A business is greatly affected by the people who run it, and hiring decisions can spell the difference between success and failure. They may conduct the job search by writing employment ads or contacting recruitment companies, choosing the applicants to contact from the resumes, calling people in, conducting interviews and making the haring decisions. Obviously management does play a part in this in a lot of companies, thus it is up to the particular business as to exactly how much of this human resources does.
A human resource associate plays a large part in the training of employees. They may help get them acclimated to the company. They take care of initial paperwork, show them training videos, tell them about their position and more. Again, some of this may be shared by management and other workers within the organization.
Human resource associates may also play a part in working out the benefits for employees. They are often the ones who contact the insurance companies and agents to find the packages for employees. They can influence the type and amount of compensation employees get both monetarily and in the form of benefits.
It is important for the employees of a company to be pleased with the company. Unhappy workers tend to not be as productive as those that are happy. A human resource associate may work to keep employees happy. One thing that they do is provide a place for an unhappy employee to go and bring up their concerns. The management of a business is sometimes too busy to deal with the concerns of lower level employees, especially if they are relatively trivial. The human resource associate can serve as a liaison, especially with issues between employees.
If there are problems with an employee, then a human resource associate may step in. They may help get the employee back on track. At times they are also involved in disciplinary or termination decisions.
It is vital for a company to hire competent human resource associates. Their work can influence the work of all of the other employees of the company.
