What to do if You’re Cursed out at Work

You will be in an awkward position if you are cursed out at work. You may not know what to do. Of course the thing not to do is to curse right back at them. That can only get you in trouble or cause the situation to deteriorate. Instead try the following.
Stay calm
You do not want the person to get you riled. No matter how you decide to proceed, it will be better if you can stay in control. The other person probably wants nothing more than to get you upset and get into a shouting match. You will already be one up if you show him or her that they do not have that power.
Consider ignoring them
Sometimes the best situation is to ignore them. There is a good chance that the person will get in trouble for his or her behaviors, especially if the superiors see it. Most bosses do not like to see this behavior. Also showing that it does not bother you may be the best retaliation that you can provide. Of course ignoring them is not always possible.
Calmly respond
Many people feel that they must respond. You can do so if you wish. Of course what you say will completely depend on the situation, but you may want to stand up for yourself.
Talk to the boss about it
In many situations you are going to want to bring the situation up with the boss. First they may be able to prevent it from happening again. They may need to take appropriate action. Also, if your boss was not there to witness it firsthand, then he or she may not get the true story of what happened. You may want to go to him or her to tell your side of the story. For instance, you do not want people to say that you took part in the language or behavior if you did not. Try to be as honest as possible with your boss. He or she may take appropriate action and will hopefully deal with it.
It can be embarrassing when one curses you out at work. As much as revenge might seem like a nice idea, think about how it may affect you in your career. If you are out of work by the day’s end, then revenge may not be worth it. Instead try the above reactions to such an event.
