What to do with a Spare Room

Many people have an extra room in their homes. There are many different uses that you can assign this spare room, including both the practical and the fun. Sometimes you can combine several of these things. Consider what type of use would make the most sense for you.
Guest room
Those who have frequent guests may choose to use the spare room for guests. You can put a bed in there. Alternatively, you can place a sofa that pulls out into a bed or a futon. You can fashion the bed like a daybed and get a trundle underneath so that two people can stay in the room. Place in a dresser or chest for guests to store their clothing.
Craft room
If you like to do crafts, then you can dedicate a room to this. You can have a big work table that is perfect for putting together scrapbooks or whatever else your crafts are. You can place large organizational bins and drawers to store all of your crafts. Decorate the walls with your crafts.
Home gym
If you like to exercise, then you can turn the spare room into a gym. Buy a weight machine. You can put a large mirror on one side so you can watch as you get fit. Place in one or more machines to help you get cardio such as a treadmill, stationary bike or elliptical machine. Place in free weights.
Library
A library is a great room for someone who enjoys books. You can fill it with shelving and comfortable couches. It can be a pleasant room where you relax and enjoy your favorite stories.
Game room
Many people enjoy playing games, and a room dedicated to this can be a lot of fun. There are many different types of games you can put in there. You can place video games, a billiards table, a ping-pong table, an air hockey table, a pinball machine and a table to play board games. You can put up shelving for the different types of games.
Play room
If you have kids, then the ideal use for the space might be to make it a playroom. This can get the kids’ toys and games out of the rest of the home. You can have a small child’s sized table in there.
There are many great uses for a spare room. In addition to the above ideas, you can make a home movie room or a home office.
