As your child grows, you will have many items that your kids outgrow. You will have many options on what to do with them. Your choice should be based on your preferences, needs and availability of options. The following are some tips on what to do with children’s items you no longer need.
Give them to someone
If you know of someone who has younger children (or who is planning on having some soon) then you could pass along the children’s items. This might be a great way to get them out of the house but feel like they are going to someone you know. You could also be doing someone a huge favor because many children’s items are expensive and you could be saving them a lot of money. Most people know enough people that there is a good chance they would know someone in this situation. If you do not personally know someone you could also ask around.
Donate the items
Donating the items is a wonderful way to give back to the community. There are many places that would take such items. Different charities might take it to give to needy families or they may sell it and use the money for charity. There are also children’s museums and places with playspaces that might take them as well.
Sell them
If you would like to try to earn a little money from your old children’s items, then you can try to sell them. You can do this in different ways. One way is that you can have a garage sale. It would be especially great if you could do it at the same time as some other families or participate in a community wide sale. Sometimes churches and other organizations will also have an event where you can bring your things in and sell them. Otherwise you could sell them online on ebay or list them on craigslist. You could also ask around to people you know, especially if the items are still worth some money, even used.
Save them
If you are very attached to your children’s items, you might choose to save them. You might save them to pass down to your children when they are older, or just to keep as remembrances of this special time. You could save them until there is someone you would like to give them to needs them.
