Bulletin Board Ideas Honesty

(411 Words)
No matter what class you teach, it is important for students to learn to be honest. This can make an excellent focus for a bulletin board. There are many great ways to bring such a board to life.
“Stories about honesty” bulletin board
You can post different stories on your bulletin board that explore honesty. You will find many books for children of all different ages, including I’m Telling the Truth: A First Look at Honesty (A First Look at Series) by Pat Thomas and Lesley Harker and Ruthie and the (Not So) Teeny Tiny Lie by Laura Rankin. You can post the books up so that they can take them on and off the board, or you can open it up to pages within the books. You can also tell famous stories about honesty such as the story of Abraham Lincoln and the tree.
You can also create one big story on the bulletin board. It can have different frames just like a comic strip. You can show a child struggling with a choice between being honest and not. For instance, the story could be about a little boy who broke his mother’s favorite vase. He does not know whether to tell her the truth or lie about it. He decides to tell her the truth and learns that this is the proverbial best policy when his mother tells him that she is proud of him for it.
“Benefits of honesty” bulletin board
You want the children to understand that although it can sometimes be difficult to be honest, it is very important and has a lot of benefits. The focus of the bulletin board can be on these rewards. Show a picture of kids being happy that their friends told them the truth, even if it is about something they did wrong.
You can also show some of the consequences of dishonesty. For instance, you can show pictures of kids getting in trouble for cheating on a test.
“Children’s work” bulletin board
Let the children make your bulletin board with their own work. You can have them draw a picture of a situation in which being honest paid off for them. It can be anything from their lives. You can then post these up on the board.
A bulletin board about honesty can be a great way to share this important lesson with kids. You can combine a variety of the ideas above to make your own unique board.
