Many boys are not quite sure what they like at 14 or 15, so it may be difficult for you to pick out a gift. You may find that he enjoys one of the following present ideas.

A lot of 14 and 15 year old boys love to eat. They may enjoy some fun treats such as fudge. You could go to the store and get a variety of these different foods. If you are not his parent, you may want to check with them before getting this gift since some control what their teens eat very strictly.
Bicycle
Many boys of this age are rapidly growing. They may outgrow their old bike very quickly. A bike can be a fun and practical gift. You may want to let him come with you when picking this out so that you are sure to get one that is comfortable for him.
Television
Many 14 and 15 year old boys like to watch T.V. but he may have to currently fight the family for it. You can solve this problem and get him a great gift by getting him one of his very own.
Computer
A 14 or 15 year old boy may like his own computer if he does not have one. You could get him a desktop or a laptop that he could take with him. Alternatively he might want something specifically for surfing the Internet such as a netbook or an IPAD.
Gift of experience
What a 14 or 15 year old boy might like the best of all is to do something. For instance, you could take him on a camping trip. If he loves car racing then take him to a NASCAR race. If he likes another type of sport and they are playing during the occasion at which you give the gift, then take him to the game. You can also sign him up for some sort of sports lessons like tennis.
Although it is not the most poetic, what your 14 or 15 year old boy may truly want is some cash so that he can go out and get exactly what he wants. A lot of boys this age are already starting to save up for a car, so he may put it into his savings. You could also get him a gift card to a store that you know he will use.
