The Consequences of having a Cluttered Home
Having a cluttered home can provide a whole wealth of problems for you and others. Consider the following consequences of having such an environment.
It is stressful
Many people find that having a cluttered home is stressful. You might want to find things and then can’t because they are hidden under other things. Many people just find that having chaos all around them is difficult to face.
It sets a bad example for children
If you have children, then this is not something you want them to grow up in. The children might think that clutter is the way it is supposed to be and take on the habit as their own. They may also get overwhelmed by all that is around them and act more hyper.
You might end up spending more money because you need to re-purchase items or items go to waste
When you have clutter you might not be able to find everything that you need. You might waste your time looking for items when you could be doing something more productive or fun. Also, at some point you might give up and go out and buy the exact same thing that you already have since you cannot find what you want. When you find it later you will be further frustrated. Also, you might have some items that will lose their value as time passes. For instance, perhaps you have a lotto ticket that won a little money but you can’t find it so you can’t cash it in. Perhaps you have coupons that expire that get lost amongst the mess. Perhaps you even have food that goes bad.
It can create a dangerous situation
If there is a lot of clutter in your home, then you can actually hurt yourself. For instance, if there are things on the floor, then you might trip on them. A fall can even cause someone to break something, and can be dangerous. If it is a guest in your home, then you could potentially even be liable if a problem occurs. Also, if some of the aforementioned food goes bad it can mold and that is probably not something you want in your house under piles of other things. It can also ruin other things. Some items might just get ruined because you step on them or they are not handled carefully because you cannot see them under the mess.
If you have a cluttered home then you might find the above consequences, which are less than desirable. You may want to take steps to alleviate this issue by cleaning up and getting rid of items.
