: How having Work Experience Helps Land the Job

:
(424 Words)
When you have work experience, you can increase your chances of landing the job. The following are the ways in which experience helps.
Employers are looking for people with experience
It is very competitive to find a job in today’s difficult economy. Many positions are getting one hundred applicants or more. It is very easy to apply for jobs with the Internet, and most employers are not going to interview everyone that comes along. Instead they need to look for some basic attributes to weed the people out, and one of the aspects that they are most often looking for is work experience.
Work experience means that a job will not have to train you as much. It can cost a lot of money to train a new employee and while you are learning and for a while thereafter while you get the hang of the job, you might not be as productive. It can be worthwhile, therefore, for an employer to hire someone who already has experience in the job right out of the box. They won’t have to waste their time, money and effort training you but know that you will be able to get to work right away. The longer and closer the experience to the new job, usually the better.
It can make your resume or job application stand out
Your work experience can be what gets your job application or resume noticed. It can be what lands you in the “yes for an interview” pile as compared to the “no” pile.
It can help you in the interview
When you have work experience, you can appear more knowledgeable in the interview. The person might be impressed if you show that you already know a lot about the field. They may just see their lives becoming easier.
You can show success in a similar field
An employer will never know for sure how you are going to perform in their job. They may get a better idea, however, if you can show that you have had experience and have been successful. For instance, if you are looking to get a salesperson job, instead of just saying that you will make them money, you can show that you were very lucrative and successful at sales in your last position.
Having work experience can be very beneficial and may be what actually lands you the job. Make sure that you highlight this in any resume or job application that you submit. The above points showcase the ways in which this can help.
