Some people cannot afford to go on a real weekend getaway. Instead consider making one in your own home. Try the following ideas to create your own special vacation.
Get away from the drudgery of everyday life
The first part of getting away is to separate yourself from everyday work. You might want to forget about your job and responsibilities for the moment. You can ignore the computer and the telephone except in cases of emergencies. Stop texting and worrying about everyday life.
Get some delicious food
A lot of “getting away” for people is to have delicious and exotic food. If you are an avid cook, then you can make yourself some unusual dishes. If you want to have a break from kitchen duty for the weekend, then you can get food brought in all weekend. There are many restaurants that now deliver beyond the typical pizza and Chinese restaurants (although those can be great as well). Sometimes there are delivery services that will deliver from a wide variety of restaurants. You can also get pre-made foods that you can just stick into the oven and heat up. You can include delicious appetizers. They even make frozen drinks that you can drink from right out of the fruit, which are sold at Costco. Try other fun mixed drinks.
Put on fun tropical music
You can really get in the mood of a weekend getaway with some fun music. You can get all different types of mood music. You can pretend that you are on Jamaica. You can also get some soft music like you would hear at a Parisian café.
Make yourself a dance party
Just because you are not really at a five star resort doesn’t mean you can’t have our own five star dance. With the music on, you can dance to your favorite tunes.
Have a campout in the backyard
If you want to sleep under the stars like you might on a tropical vacation, then you can do so at your own home in your backyard. You can bring out blankets, sleeping bags and even a tent if you want. You can set up a little campfire and cook over it. You can tell stories and jokes and pretend that you are far away. The best part is that you can still use your very own bathroom.
A weekend getaway can occur right in the comfort of your own home. Try the above techniques to get this.
