As it gets cold outside, you might want to have the children make a winter art project. There are many different projects that they can create, including the following.
Snowflakes
The children can make their own snowflakes with nothing more than white paper and scissors. They will first need to fold the paper a lot of times. They can then use the scissors to cut out around the paper. When they open it, it should look like a snowflake, and everyone’s should be unique. They can further decorate it with markers, crayons, glitter glue or whatever other art supplies they have.
Winter scene
The children can draw out a winter scene. They can use paints to make a scene of a hillside covered in snow, a snowman or whatever else they want.
Holiday art project
A lot of students might want to do an art project related to a winter holiday that they celebrate. For instance, if they celebrate Christmas, they can make a Christmas tree ornament. They can cut out a circular piece of thick paper for the ornament. They can then decorate it however they want. They can glue beads, rhinestones, feathers or other things on it. They can then punch a hole at the top and attach a string so that it can be hung on their tree. They can also make themselves a paper stocking. They can take two thick pieces of paper and cut them both in the shape of a stocking (they should match exactly). They can glue them everywhere except for the top so that stocking stuffers can be put into them. They can then decorate them with red and green stickers or other items. The students can also use green construction paper to make a wreath.
If the student celebrate Hanukah, then they can make a Hanukkah Decoration. They can draw out a menorah, Star of David or dreidel on a canvas that can be hung up for the holiday.
Winter apparel
The children can make an art project that they can use. You can get them a plain t-shirt, hat or another clothing item. They can use fabric paints and markers to decorate it with a winter scene such as a snowman. They can also decorate a different practical item such as a wooden picture frame or box.
There are many great art projects that one can do for winter. Consider the above ideas for your class.
