(408 Words)
There are many art projects that you can do for the month of January. Consider the following ideas for your students.
Paper snowflake
The children can easily make their own paper snowflakes with some paper and a pair of scissors. Simply have the children fold the paper many times. They can then use the scissors to cut away different pieces of the paper at the edges. When they unfold them they will look like a snowflake and every child’s should be different. If you want to add a little extra then they can color them or add an embellishment like white or silver glitter.
Snowman art project
There are many different art projects the students can do with snowmen. First you can take some paper and give them cotton balls and glue. They can glue down the cotton balls in the shape of the snowman. They can use paint or other items to give him a mouth, ears, nose, buttons, etc. They can add real twigs for the arms. They can also add paint or real fabric for the scarf and the mittens.
Winter wonderland scene
The children can create a winter wonderland scene. You can have them draw all of the activities you can do in the winter such as build snowmen. They can use crayons, markers, paints or any other art supplies that they want.
Create a calendar
January is also about the beginning of the year, and the students can create a calendar. You can have them draw a nice picture as the top of the calendar and to the bottom add a sheet that shows all of the months. If you want to do a really big project then you can have them make a full calendar and color something for every month of the year. This can be one of their big art projects and a great keepsake that they can have for the rest of the year and beyond.
Winter related clothing
The children can also decorate clothing in a winter theme. For instance, they can draw snowmen and snowflakes with fabric markers on a t-shirt, hat or anything else. They can also make a tote bag that they can use to carry things around.
There are many great art projects that young students can do during the month of January. Anything that is related to winter will go well during this cold time. Use the above ideas when planning your projects.
