An old window can be used in a variety of different art projects. Consider the following ideas when looking to make something run down and old into something wonderful and new.
Use the old window as your canvas for a painting
If you are a painter, then you might want to consider making a painting of an old window. A painting on glass can be very attractive. You do not even need to be very skilled at painting. If you are good with colors then you can just make something that is a mix of pretty colors. You can also use stencils to make pictures. They sell books on how to easily make some pretty paintings. Of course someone who is a skilled artist will be able to make something beautiful on the window by free hand such as a still life. You can place one big scene on the window or you can decorate a different scene in each part of the glass if the glass is partitioned. You can make a landscape or make a portrait of someone. You can also use paints that are see-through so that the light can shine through it. There really is no limit to what you can paint. Just make sure that all art supplies are made to go onto glass so it will not come right off.
Use it as a mosaic
One nice idea is to add on beautiful cut pieces of china and other glass to turn it into a mosaic. You can add in other pieces that are see through so it can almost give a little bit of the look of a stained glass window. You can mix some of the transparent pieces with some that are opaque for a very interesting look.
Use it as a picture frame
You can turn your old window into an art project by making it into a picture frame. You can decorate the outside of it with items like paint or markers. You can glue on different embellishments such as Swarovski crystals, beads, rhinestones, glitter or whatever else you want. You can then place a photograph behind it. It can make for a very interesting conversation piece that is like no other.
An old window does not need to be thrown away or be an eyesore. Instead turn it into a beautiful work of art. The above ideas can be some that you use when you revitalize such an item.
