How to use Accessories to Make a Pretty Ponytail
You might think of a ponytail as a plain and casual style, however there are many ways that you can quickly and easily dress it up to be something very special. This can be a great way to go from a day to a night look or give someone a little extra sparkle. Consider the following strategies.
Ribbons
You can add some ribbons or even strands of crystals to your ponytail. After you make the ponytail, simply tie some ribbons into the top and let them hang down with the rest of the hair. You can make a big bow at the top if you like. This is a great look for a child, and you can do it in her school colors or a color to go along with a holiday.
For something fancier put in strands of crystals. You can make these yourself or purchase them. Some of these have clips attached to the end for you to clip in your hair or you could tie it into your ponytail.
Fancy ponytail holder
Use a fancy ponytail holder to instantly give your hair a fancier look. You can buy one with beads on it. They make some ponytail holders that have crystals on them. Some of these are made of velvet.
Add a headband
You can wear a headband in conjunction with a ponytail. Obviously this take but a second to don, but they can suddenly change the entire look of your hairdo. You will find a countless array of choices of headbands in plastic, metal and fabric. Some are colorful while others have beads, crystals or flowers attached to them. Make sure that it matches the ponytail holder and does not clash. It can also make your hair look neater and keep the hair from getting into your eyes.
Add braids
You can add braids into the ponytail for a prettier look. There are many different types of braids such as the traditional three strand and the fishtail. You can make one braid, or you can put in a variety of little braids. You can put all of the hair into the braid or just some of it.
Add clips, combs or barrettes
Add a hair accessory to the front of your ponytail to make it fancier. You will find many different ones, from elaborate clips that have Swarovski crystals all over them to small ones with little embroidered flowers.
