(466 Words)
What preschooler does not love to climb? “Things that climb” can make a creative and fun theme for a preschool bulletin board. There are various ways that you can create such a display.
Guess who bulletin board
The bulletin board can become a fun game for the children. Obtain photographs of the different animals that climb as well as other objects that might climb like humans or even a toy. Hide these partially behind flaps. Let the children guess what they are.
You can also use this type of board to teach other lessons to the children. For instance, you can place the first letter of the name of the climbing item to the front of the flap to help them guess what it is. A monkey would have a big M in front of it. Be sure to include both an upper and lower case letter. You can also include numbers in the lesson. For instance, on top of the flap for a human, you may say that this climbing object has 2 hands.
You can even get more complex with your board by adding sound. Mount little voice recorders next to each flap. Record the sound that the animal or the climbing object makes. The kids can push the button to help them guess what it is.
Bulletin board with climbing stuffed animals
Make your bulletin board interesting by creating a three dimensional display. The background can look like a jungle. Paint or draw trees or line it with pictures of such. You can then have green yarn or rope going down to represent the vines of trees. Purchase or make stuffed animals that climb such as monkeys and cats. You can attach these to the vines so that it looks like a slew of stuffed animals are climbing up your wall.
The children may enjoy being involved with the creation of the bulletin board. Instead of buying stuffed animals, the children can make them in an art project. Let them make little animals out of construction paper, markers, crayons and embellishments such as fake fur. They can cut out shapes of the animals and decorate them. The teacher can then attach these to the vines.
Comic strip bulletin board
Preschoolers love stories. A comic strip showing people and animals that climb can make for a fun and creative board. Create a strip with several rows and columns. Show different characters and things climbing. You can use different art supplies to create this board including crayons, markers and paints.
A bulletin board about climbing can teach preschoolers in a fun and creative way. Be sure to make it an attractive display with a colorful border and embellishments such as stickers, cut-outs and photographs. With hard work and creativity you can create the perfect board.
