Bulletin Board Ideas Water Safety

It is very important to educate children about water safety. It can literally save a child’s life. There are many ways to get these messages across, and one way to do so is with a bulletin board that can be posted in the classroom. The following are ideas for such a board.
Have the bulletin board look like a picture of the pool with people doing the right – and wrong – things.
You can make the background look like the water by coloring it blue, using blue construction paper or putting something like blue cellophane wrap. You can then draw in children swimming in the water. Some of them can be doing the right things such as swimming with an adult, walking, waiting their turn at the diving board, etc. You can show those children on one side. On the other side, you can show the children doing the wrong things such as running, not listening to the adult with them, playing very hard in the water, fighting, diving in a no diving zone and so forth. You can label these as right or wrong. If you want the children to learn from them, you can have not have them labeled at first and go over with the children which are right and which are wrong and then label them then.
Post the different water safety rules surrounded by pictures of different bodies of water
There are many water safety rules that you can highlight on your bulletin board. You can write these out in easy-to-understand language geared for the age of the children. Also, many kids might just assume that water safety only has to do with pools, however there are many other bodies of water out there from ponds to lakes to canals to the ocean and even to flooded areas. A small child who does not know how to swim can even have a problem in the bathtub or a water fountain. It is important for kids to realize that they must be careful in all of these places.
Make the bulletin board interactive or involve the children
The children may like the bulletin board if it is interactive such as if it has a water safety quiz on it. Also, you can have the kids make something to post on the bulletin board such as an illustration of how you should behave in the water.
A bulletin board on water safety can be a valuable teaching tool. Consider the above ideas when crafting your board.
