: Student Art Projects Space Theme

(416 Words)
Many children love space and the mysteries that it offers. One great idea for students is to have them make an art project related to this theme. There are many different things that they can do, including the following.
Solar system mobile
The students can make a mobile of the solar system, which can teach them about the planets and make for a wonderful decoration as well. They will need a wire hanger. They can then start making the planets. You can buy different sized Styrofoam balls. As part of the art project, the students can paint them to resemble the planets. For instance, Earth will be green and blue, Mars will be red and so forth. They should be sure to use paints that will stay on. If they have trouble with that, then they can first cover the balls in paper, which may be easier to decorate. Once they have decorated them, they can attach a string to them and hang them from the hanger to make the mobile.
Painting of the stars
A lot of artists have chosen space as their inspiration , and students can do this as well. You can have them paint a scene of the solar system, Earth from space, the stars or anything else in this theme. You can have them start with black paper and they can glue on glitter to represent the stars, which can make the project stand out. You can also give them embellishments that they can glue on to the art project such as cloth, little pieces of paper, rhinestones, beads, crystals, sequins, etc. Instead of painting they can also use crayons, markers or colored pencils to color a scene. For very young children who might have difficulty drawing, you can give them a paper with a space scene pre-printed on it and have them color it.
Diorama of a space scene
A diorama can make a great art project. The children can take a shoebox. They can line the inside in black or dark blue paper to represent outer space. They can then use paper to draw and make little astronauts or planets or anything else that is related to space. They can mount these in there for a three dimensional space scene.
Space is a great theme for a student’s art project. The exact one you choose will depend on how skilled in art the children are, which is largely dependent on their age. Consider the above ideas when planning your lessons.
