2259 Words: 432
School uniforms have become common in many schools. Many parents do not like the idea of school uniforms, however, and their reasons for not liking them range significantly. The following are some reasons why parents do not like school uniforms.
They can cost a lot of money
Many school uniforms are extremely expensive. Sometimes, the schools have certain contracts with specific vendors and they force you to purchase from them. You then must pay whatever it costs, no matter what. In addition, you are usually going to want to get several uniforms so the price can compound. You might also not get as much use out of them because once the child gets out of the school, he or she will probably not want to wear them anymore, even if he or she still fits in them. Some schools do allow you to have a wavier or sign up for financial aid but a lot of people do not qualify for that or they would not want to have their child stand out as not being able to afford it.
They are upset that their children are not happy
Many children do not like school uniforms. They may want to wear their own clothes instead. A parent might feel bad if their child is not happy.
They feel bad that the child will not get as much use out of the other clothes he or she has
The parent probably spent a lot of money on the other clothes that the child has. They may have gotten them some for gifts and other people might have given them gifts as well. They may feel bad that the child will not get to wear these as much. Children are in clothes for only a short period of time because they can grow so quickly. They may feel bad if they gave them some special outfits and the child hardly got to wear it.
They may feel like their child can’t exhibit their individuality
Many people see clothing as a way to express their individuality. A parent may feel that the child should be able to do this, and might feel that school uniforms may make it less likely for them to do this.
They may see it as more of a hassle
They may just feel that it is more of a hassle to always make sure that he or she wears the uniform. If they all get dirty or one gets misplaced, then they could have a problem. It is probably not as easy as just finding another outfit in the closet.
