63 Words: 9 Why Schoolchildren should have a Daily Physical Education Class
2416 Words: 418
Physical education is extremely important for children. There are many reasons that this should be a daily occurrence for children, not once a week or even less often in cash-strapped school systems. Some schools will have hour after hour of hard-core academics, but not take the time for thirty minutes of exercise. The following are reasons why schoolchildren should have a daily physical education class.
Children should learn to make daily exercise a part of their life
Exercise is so important for one’s life. It helps keep off weight and lowers your risk of high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, stroke and a host of other conditions as you age. It is recommended that most people exercise most days and yet by far most Americans do not. It is very important that children learn of the importance of exercise at a young age, so that they will hopefully carry this lesson with them in the future. If they get a daily physical education class as schoolchildren and are taught that this is what you do to help you stay healthy, then they might be more likely to continue it as they age. If they are instead shown that it is not important because it is expendable, then they may be less likely to just start it up on their own as adults. Many children learn by example.
Many adults and even children are overweight
Many adults are overweight. Again, this is something that exercise can definitely help with. If children start exercising when they are young, they may be able to avoid becoming as overweight as adults. In addition, even many children are overweight now. Exercising can help burn those calories and keep the children in better shape. Also, the students may become used to it and exercise more in their free time.
Children need some physical exercise
Many children just sit at their desks for hour after hour. This can be very hard on little bodies, which want and need to move around. Sometimes children have trouble concentrating because they have all of this pent up energy and they do not know what to do with it. Some good physical exercise in a physical education class can help them use up some of that energy. It might even help them focus better when they are back in the classroom, and they may even be more efficient.
Physical education is extremely important. Hopefully, this will be recognized by more school systems making cuts in this important area.
