2623 Words: 473
There are many lovely Mother’s Day activities to do in preschool classrooms. These can be special activities to teach children how important it is to appreciate their moms while giving the moms something very special. It can also allow the children to do something that they feel proud of for their mothers. The following are some Mother’s Day activities for preschool classrooms.
Make a Mother’s Day card
One nice thing is to have the children make their mothers a Mother’s Day card. This is simple and takes very little. They can just take some construction paper and fold it in half. They can then draw whatever they want on one side or you can have them do a little craft such as pasting a heart on it or something of that sort. If they can write at all, they can write their name or I Love You or something similar. This can be something very nice for them to give to their mother on this special day.
Make a Mother’s Day drawing for their mother
Another nice way for preschoolers to commemorate this holiday is to have them make their mothers a drawing of themselves with their moms. You can direct them to make a drawing of them doing something special with their mother or draw something representing a special memory that they have. This can be very special and make their mothers very happy.
Make a picture frame craft
If you want to get a little more complicated, you can have the children make a Mother’s Day picture frame for their mothers, which they can then use to put a picture of the two of them (or the family) in. There are many ways to do this. You can purchase wooden picture frames that are already made from a store such as Michael’s Arts and Crafts and just have the children decorate them with items such as markers, crayons, glue, glitter, sequins, etc. Alternatively, they could make the entire frame themselves out of cardboard, wooden sticks or many other items. You can have them draw a picture to put in it or have it that the mother will put in her own picture.
Record them talking about their mothers
Another nice gift that could be very meaningful to the mothers is to record the children talking about them. Every child will get a turn. You can ask them specific questions such as “What is something special that you do with your mother?” and “What do you like best about your mother?” You can either record their voice or use a video camera to record them entirely. You can then send this home with the children as a gift for the mother to keep forever.
There are many special activities to do on Mother’s Day. Consider the above activities with your preschool class.
