Certain Vegetables
A lot of vegetables have very few calories. These include celery, cucumbers, spinach, lettuce, among many many others. Not only are you unlikely to gain weight from these, but you will be doing your body a favor by giving it healthy vegetables. There are many diet plans that will even let you have as many of these items as you want because they are so low in calories. Even vegetables that have a few too many calories to be considered negligible can still often be munched on for quite a while before adding significantly to your caloric intake. You can also add some low calorie fat free dipping sauce or dressing to the vegetables to give them some more flavor.
Popcorn
Popcorn is a wonderful food to munch on. That is, as long as it is air popped and not saturated in twenty pounds of oil. The light air popped popcorn without additives can be healthy and delicious and low calorie. You could munch on it for a while before you encounter any problems. Of course, be sure to check that it is air popped and healthy because the ones that are not are really unhealthy for you. Many of the movie theater ones, for instance, are popped in unhealthy oils and can be as bad for you as a hamburger.
Rice cakes
Your mother might have eaten them, and now so can you. Of course, look for the plainer or lower calorie ones because some have toppings that can add some calories but a lot of the basic ones are very good items to much on with few calories.
When you want to munch do not reach for the French fries or potato chips, and do not even look at a bag of candy. Instead choose one of the above items to avoid sabotaging your diet.
