Just because you are going on vacation does not mean that you cannot have an educational trip. There are many destinations that offer families the chance to learn. A tour of different areas of Florida can be very educational. The following are some of the best places to go for an educational road trip with the family.
Orlando
When you think of Walt Disney World, the first thought that comes to your mind might not be education, however there are a lot of educational attractions in or near this city. Walt Disney’s EPCOT, for instance, has many educational attractions, shows and exhibits. They have an entire area dedicated to different countries where children can learn about the different cultures of the world. The different cultures have films and/or other exhibits that can share some of their culture. In addition, they have an exhibit on the sustaining crops on the land, complete with a boat tour covering “Living with the Land.” It talks about growing and harvesting crops and shows innovative techniques that they are using there. You can also go on a behind the scenes tour of the same exhibit. Even the iconic silver sphere of EPCOT, a ride called Spaceship Earth, teaches visitors about the communication and technological advances of the past present, and future.
There are other opportunities to learn in this area as well. Disney’s Animal Kingdom teaches the entire family about animals in a fun way. You can learn about aquatic life at Sea World, which is not too far from this area. There is also the Green Meadows Petting Farm, where children can learn about animals. They can feed and handle all different types of farm animals and even milk a cow! There is also a science museum in the Orlando area, as well.
St. Augustine
This is a city filled with information about history. There are many exhibits that allow history to come to life such as the old schoolhouse, the fountain of youth, the fort and more. Children can learn about things they have only read about in textbooks. They can visit real-life relics of the past.
Kennedy Space Center
The family can learn a lot about the space program at the Kennedy Space Center. They have many shows and exhibits that showcase the past, present and future of the space program. These are geared towards different ages and are of great interest to a lot of children.
