Why everyone in the Family should help with Laundry
(418 Words)
The family laundry should not be a single person activity. According to Nancy Darling Ph.D. in Psychology Today, chores such as the laundry help children feel like part of the family. There are many other benefits to sharing this task.
Everyone contributes to the need
Everyone in the family creates laundry. Because of this universal blame, it is only fitting that everyone takes part in helping with the chore. One person may feel frustrated doing all of the laundry for everyone else.
The laundry can be an extremely large task, especially with larger families or families with children. When everyone helps, no one person has a major job since the work is spread out. When one person does it, then it may take up a lot of time. Since many families now have two working parents, time is often in short commodity.
It can be beneficial for children
Helping with the laundry can be helpful for children many different ways. First, it can teach them about responsibility. Many modern children do not realize how much work their parents do for them. When they help with the laundry they can get a glimpse into the hard work and effort put forth by their parents and hopefully they will appreciate them more.
The children can also feel pride that they helped. They may make more of an effort to do things that will make the laundry easier since they have to help. For instance, perhaps they will be more diligent about putting their dirty clothing in the hamper instead of the floor.
Laundry is a fairly easy chore in which even young children can partake. For instance, even very small kids can help take a few clothing items out of the dryer or help fold towels. Also, the children will eventually need to know how to do the laundry on their own. If they learn how to do it from a young age, then it will be a very easy transition for them.
It can create family time
It may be difficult to think of a chore as family time, however any time that the family works together towards a shared goal is important. Family members can feel a sense of cohesiveness as they work together towards an objective and help each other.
The entire family should contribute to the laundry. When everyone works together, the task can get done quickly, everyone will feel pride in helping and no one person will have to shoulder a monumental task by themselves.
