In this tumultuous time, it is extremely important to let your children know how much you love them. There are different strategies that you can employ in order to express your feelings to your middle school children, including the following.
Get them something that says “I love you”
There are many different items that you can get that say “I love you” or give that message. For instance, if you have a daughter, there are different pendants and other jewelry that gives this message. They even have some relatively inexpensive yet pretty silver jewelry that have nice sentiments engraved on them. You can also get many items that have engravings on them that say “I love you.” These can be for both girls and boys and can be a keepsake that they can hold onto for years to come. It might also be something that they can carry with wherever they go.
Tell them
Just because they are in middle school does not mean that they are too old for you to tell them that you love them. Even if they say “Ohhhh mom” doesn’t mean that they secretly do not want to hear it under their teenage attitudes. You should make it a habit to tell them. You can tell them every day before they go to bed or another such time. You can also make sure that they understand that you will always love them no matter how much you fight. It may be especially important for you to tell them after you have gotten into an argument.
Be there for them
A middle school student faces a lot of challenges. They may need hugs and may still need to cry on your shoulder every now and then. Make sure that you are there for them. Do not make them feel embarrassed or that they are doing something that they shouldn’t. You should always be there for them to listen or just to hold them. Make sure that they know that you do this because you love them.
