Crafts for Nursing Homes Chenille Pipe Cleaner Crafts

It’s amazing how many crafts you can make with chenille pipe cleaners. These crafts are inexpensive, easy to do and can be just perfect for the residents of a nursing home. Consider the following crafts ideas.
Craft flowers
Chenille pipe-cleaners are the perfect tool for a resident to make some craft flowers. There are different ways to do this. One way is to get a coffee filter. Have the nursing home residents color or paint on it with art supplies that are waterproof. You then wet the coffee filter and bring the sides up so that it is the shape of a flower such as a tulip. Take your chenille pipe-cleaner and attach it to the bottom for your flower. You can have them each make one or they can make an entire bouquet.
Chenille pipe-cleaners can also go well as the actual flowers. You can just have them bend them into the shape of different flowers such as daisies. They can attach them to a popsicle stick or put them in a toilet paper roll “vase.”
Chenille pipe-cleaner jewelry
Chenille pipe-cleaners can go very well as the basis for some craft jewelry. You can have the nursing home residents make a bracelet or a necklace. There are many ways to do this. One way is to get some beads. Make sure that they have a large enough hole to fit over a chenille pipe-cleaner. The can take a pipe cleaner and bend it to the shape of a necklace or bracelet. If it needs to be longer, then they can combine two or more. They can then put on the beads. This can help them with their coordination. When they are done, they can just twist the ends together. An alternative way is to get some heavy paper such as cardboard and cut it into tiny shapes such as one inch round circles. They can then use a hole puncher to make holes in them (or you can do this to prepare it for them). They can decorate them and string them in the pipe cleaners.
Holiday decoration
You can also use these to make a holiday decoration. They can make a Christmas Tree ornament in the same way described to make a bracelet above except they should make a little loop at the top to hang on a tree. If they celebrate Hanukkah, then they can use blue ones to make a star of David.
Make sure that you gear the craft towards the nursing home resident’s particular abilities. For instance, some nursing home residents may be able to cut out the paper for the jewelry whereas others will just be able to decorate it. Consider the above craft projects for your nursing home residents.
