It can cut off your childhood too soon
Many teenagers are still enjoying their childhood. They are going out with their friends, enjoying the leisure time and focusing on themselves. They may still be trying to figure out what they want to do with their lives, and most can just enjoy being kids without having to worry about many of the rigors of everyday life. Becoming a teenage mother changes that in a hurry. Suddenly you will have major responsibilities. You will have to worry about someone else instead of yourself. You will not have as much time to go out with friends or do the activities that most teenagers enjoy. A baby is a wonderful thing when the time is right, but many teenage mothers soon find out that this is not the right time.
It can make life very hard.
It may derail school plans
Most teenagers are still in school. Being a teenage mother while pregnant and with a small child can be very challenging. Unfortunately, a lot of girls and women in this scenario decide to leave school, which can affect their opportunities for the rest of their lives. It can be far more difficult to go back to school later. This will also affect the jobs that they may have gotten in the future.
Money is often an issue
A lot of teenage mothers struggle with money. Babies are extremely expensive, and many teenage girls have little means of supporting themselves, especially in this difficult economy. This may be especially compounded if they do not have the degrees that so many employers require. They may end up living with their parents. They may have to take low paying jobs and work and work while their child is in daycare just to make the ends meet. It can be difficult to get out of this hole.
They may be less likely to be in a committed relationship
Many teenage mothers are not married. Having a baby can be a strain on a relationship, and they may be more likely to end up becoming single mothers. It can also make it more difficult for them to date and find a good relationship in the future.
It can be very difficult to be a teenage mother. A girl should carefully consider the disadvantages before taking the steps to allow this to happen.
