A wedding photographer will document your wedding, giving you tangible memories to last a lifetime. It is important to find one who will take quality pictures. On the other hand, a lot of people are struggling financially in these difficult economic times, and they may not be able to afford a very expensive photographer. The following are tips on how to find an inexpensive but good wedding photographer.
Price around
You want to call different photographers to find out who is in your price range. Of course, you will still need to determine which ones are good, but right away you can cross out anyone who is too much. Get a list of possible candidates.
Ask people you know for recommendations
You should ask people who have gotten married in the past few years if they had a good yet budget photographer that they can recommend. You can also ask to see their wedding pictures so that you can judge for yourself how you like them. Also, find out any photographers you should stay away from.
Look at different wedding photographers’ websites
You will find a lot of information at the websites of different wedding photographers. A lot of them will list prices so you can get a feel for whom is in your price range. Most of them will also have galleries that you can look through so you can see who seems to be a competent photographer. If possible, try to look at the pictures of the actual weddings on the website. This might be separate from their galleries. Their galleries will show the best few pictures they have, but an album of just one wedding might give you a better idea of how yours will look.
Visit with the photographer
When you visit , see if you can look at examples of pictures. Again, if you can see the pictures from one wedding instead of just a gallery from all of their weddings, it might give you a more accurate view of their work. Also, they may be able to work with you on price.
Consider getting a CD with the images instead of prints
One way that you might be able to get “more bang for your buck” would be to see if a photographer offers a CD of the high resolution images with a copyright release instead of prints. Usually when you buy prints from a wedding photographer you spend a lot of money. Some of the photographers are willing to give the images instead and you just pay them a flat fee for their time. You can then go to a low cost photo lab such as one at Costco.
There are many good but inexpensive wedding photographers out there. Use the above tips to help you find the one that is right for you.
