: Disadvantages of Buying Clothes on of the Internet

(438 Words)
Although there are many advantages to buying clothing off of the Internet, there are many drawbacks as well. The following are some reasons why you may want to avoid this shopping method.
You cannot know how the outfit will look on you before you buy it
No matter how great the outfit looks on the model (don’t they always?) or on the screen, it might not look good on you. People have different body shapes, faces and looks that can make a big difference on how an outfit looks. Although it might be flattering on one person it might look terrible on another. When you buy it on the Internet you cannot obviously try it on to see how it will look on you.
You cannot try on the different sizes to see what is right for you
A lot of people are not always one size. Sometimes the size they wear might range depending on the outfit. Also, some outfits are cut smaller or more generously than others. When you buy clothing at a store, if something doesn’t fit then you can easily try on another size. You can compare between the two to see what you like best. Obviously this is much more complicated when you are buying online.
You can also get an idea of the fit when you are buying in person compared to when buying online. For instance, let’s say you buy a dress online but it comes out too short or too low cut when you wear it. Perhaps it is just too loose in a place. You might not be able to ascertain these intricacies if you buy off of the Internet.
You will have to pay for shipping in a lot of cases
A lot of websites have shipping fees. These can be substantial. They are usually even greater if you need it expedited.
You do not get it right away
When you go to the store, you pick out your clothing and take it right there and then. When you buy online you will need to wait for it.
Returns can be a hassle
It can be much more difficult to return something to an online source rather than the store. You will have to package it up and you might need to take it to the post office. In most cases you will also have to pay for return shipping.
There are also problems that occur when the wrong order gets shipped to you. Because of that potential problem and those listed above, you may want to consider purchasing clothing at physical stores instead of on the Internet.
