: Factors that Influence Fitness

It is important to be physically fit. There are a variety of factors that can influence fitness, some within your control and others not. Consider the following issues that may play a part in this.
How much you exercise
The more you exercise the greater fitness you will have. Exercise can help you build muscle, improve your heart and lower your chances for many different diseases. It has been correlated with a longer and healthier life span. It is especially useful if you can exercise for at least thirty minutes most days of the week. If you do not feel that you have time to do an entire thirty minutes in one session then you can even break it up into ten minute sessions. As you exercise you will often find that you can do more. You might not tire as easily and you will feel stronger.
The type of exercise also makes a difference in your fitness level. It is important to reach your target heart rate while you are exercising, which is dependent on your age. Aerobic exercise is very good for you and consists of a consistent rise in heart rate. Exercises that can achieve this include jogging, riding on an exercise bike, swimming laps and more. Also, it is good to have muscle-building exercises as well such as lifting weights. Some people say “Well, I am busy so I get plenty of exercise.” No matter how busy you are, however, it cannot substitute for aerobic and purposeful exercise.
Being at a healthy weight
Unfortunately, many people are not at a healthy weight and a decent number are obese. When you are very overweight, your body is under a lot of undue stress, which can affect your fitness level. You should try to use food and exercise to keep your weight to a healthy level.
Physical activity
In addition to actual exercise just being very physically active can help you with your fitness. You should try to get a lot of walking in during the day, for instance. Instead of taking the elevator, you can consider walking up the stairs. If your destination is close by, then walk there instead of drive. Make your nightly activity be a stroll around the neighborhood instead of watching television or surfing on the Internet. Some people will even get a device that allows them to exercise at their desk such as a pedaling machine they put by their feet.
Fitness is very important. Of course, before starting any exercise routine or new physical activity, you might want to check with your physician to make sure it is suitable for you. The above factors are those that can influence fitness.
