Fun Activities to keep Children Busy on a Snow Day
Snow days can get boring. You might not be able to do much outside if the snow is too thick, thus you need to think of fun and exciting things to do on the inside. Try a variety of different ideas to keep your little ones busy.
Playing games
Games are an excellent way to keep children busy as well as provide quality family time. There are nearly countless board games, based on all different sorts of subjects. They make games suitable for children of every age, many of which are educational. Consider a popular game like Clue, Monopoly or Scrabble.
Arts and crafts
Allow your children’s imagination to go wild by letting them do arts and crafts on a snow day. Kennesaw State University offers several seasonal activity ideas including making snowflakes. Paper snowflakes are made by taking white sheets of construction paper, folding them several times and having children cut out little bits from the sides. When the children unfold them, each will have a beautiful snowflake, which he or she can then decorate with glitter. They can use white cotton balls to make paper snowmen. There are many different craft kits you can purchase for kids of all ages.
Karaoke

Puppets
Young children may enjoy putting on a puppet show during a snow day. Family Corner Magazine suggests making paper bag puppets, but puppets are also made from many other materials. You can have them make the puppets first and then put on the show for everyone to see. For young children you can make the show.
Story time
Children of different ages can benefit from listening to stories. You can read a favorite or make up a special one just for your children. Children who are older can read to you or themselves.
Puzzles
According to educational psychologist Istar Schwager, many children enjoy puzzles, and you can get all different types based on his or her age. You could choose a word search or a crossword. They sell activity books at the dollar store where you can buy a book that has many different types of puzzles.
