(408 Words)
Your little one wants to be a doctor, and you want to do all you can to encourage him. There are many wonderful toys that you can get for your little future doctor that will allow him or her to explore the field. Consider the following options.
Dress up toy
First you want your little doctor to look to part. Get him or her a costume that includes a lab coat. You can even get one that is personalized with “Dr.” and then his or her name. You can also get surgical scrubs for a child who wants to “perform surgery.” These are sold at toy stores as well as various places before Halloween.
Doctor’s kit
Of course your little one will need a great doctor’s kit so that he or she can practice. You will find a wide range of options, including the Fisher Price Medical Kit, Learning Resources Pretend & Play Doctor Set and Melissa & Doug Doctor Role Play Costume Set. Generally these range from $15 to $30 but they differ greatly. Popular play items that they may have include a stethoscope, thermometer, blood pressure monitor, Band-aid, scissors, pager, forceps, cell phone and a case to handle it all.
Some of the toys have special interactive features. For instance, many of them come with a stethoscope that actually works. Some of them light up to the sound of a heart beating. Others will showcase coughing sounds. Also, other parts may light up and/or make noises such as the pager or phone.
If you want your child to have an entire set up at which to tend to a baby, then look for one that has an examining table. Your child can keep everything in one place.
Baby dolls
Of course your child needs someone to tend to. You can get him or her a baby doll in conjunction with the medical kit. He or she can pretend that the baby is sick and needs attention. They make a variety of different dolls.
You might also want to get a character of a doctor for the child to play pretend with. For instance, you can look for a Barbie doll in a doctor’s outfit.
There are many great toys that encourage a child who wishes to become a doctor. For best results, look at the selection, ratings and reviews at an online source such as Amazon or go to the store to evaluate what they have.
