Advertising can be very important for a business to help gain new customers and keep old ones. A lot of forms of advertising are very expensive, however, and many people are on tight budgets in the difficult economy. Consider the following tips to advertise your business without spending a fortune.
Advertise in local programs, flyers, etc.
There are many local programs that cost very little to advertise in compared to a major newspaper. For instance, you can look at a community theater program. You may be able to reach a lot of people but spend very little. A lot of groups put out little newsletters and sell small spaces for advertisements. You may be able to put your name in a lot of little places without spending much at all.
Sponsor a local team
Another way to get your name out there – and in a good way – is to sponsor some sort of team. You could sponsor a little league baseball team for instance. You can often put up signs during the games and sometimes you name is even on their uniforms. Not only will you be able to reach out to people, but people will feel positive about your sponsorship of a local team and hopefully they will give you the business.
Advertise in a local coupon book
There are sometimes local coupon books that charge very little for the advertisements. Many people look at these, which can be mailed out.
Put advertisements on your cars
Some people will advertise on their cars or on those of their employees. Obviously this costs next to nothing to do and you may be able to get your name out there to a lot of people.
Hand out flyers
You can make a flyers to hand out at different events or in front of different places. Make sure that you have permission and are not violating any laws or codes in doing so.
Put your information on bulletin boards at other places of business
Many businesses such as restaurants have bulletin boards and allow you to advertise your business. Some of them do not charge anything for them. You may have people peruse these boards and they can give you some free advertising.
Just because you want to advertise does not mean that you have to spend a fortune. The above techniques can be both cost effective and just plain effective.
