Small Business Ideas for College Students
Many college students would like to earn a little extra money. There are some small businesses that would be just perfect for a student. Consider the following ideas.
Food cart
A college student might be able to make a little money by opening up a little food cart business. Food carts do not generally cost that much, especially if you do not actually cook anything on it and if you buy one that is pre-owned. Also college students love to eat so if you can find a good place to keep it then you might be able to do quite well. When planning such a business make sure that you get all of the necessary licenses and permits. Make sure that you pick a good spot for your business that gets a lot of traffic.
Vending machine
A vending machine business can be a good way to earn income without needing to do a lot of work. Of course the big expense is the vending machine, but you might be able to finds one that is pre-owned. Again, the trick is to finding a good spot, but in a college area, you may be able to do this. Once you have a spot, you simply need to keep it stocked and empty the money coming to you.
Tutoring business
While you are in college, why not take what you have learned to help others and make money at the same time? You can have your own little tutoring business. You can target grade school students or other college students. You can advertise on bulletin boards and through word of mouth.
Hair cutting business
Some students might like to cut other kids’ hair to earn a little bit of money. Different places require different licenses for this, so you should check to see what is required in your area. You can offer inexpensive haircuts, and quickly get a few extra dollars.
Freelance business
There are many small businesses that you can open by doing freelance work. This will depend on your skills. If you are a copywriter, then you could make a little copywriting consulting business. You could make a photography business if you have these skills. Many college students have computer skills and you may be a graphic artist. Think about how you can put your skills to work.
