:
(408 Words)
Do you check out at Costco and wonder where all of the items in your cart came from? You may end up buying many products just on impulse, only to figure out that you do not actually need them. The following are tips for avoiding unnecessary products at this warehouse giant.
Think about each and every item before you put it in your cart
Costco has a number of innovative products. They have many products that are sure to elicit a reaction of “Oh, how cool!” from most customers. Just because a product is interesting and unique does not mean you should buy it, however. You really should think about each item. Try to think about the specific times that you would use it. If you cannot think of any, then that might be a sign that you should put it back. Remember, that you can always come back for it later. It is better to put it back for now and come back rather than to have something that you will need to worry about returning.
Make sure that the savings are worth the extra volume you may have to buy
Costco sells a lot of items in very big portions. You can often save money but you might have to buy a lot more than you normally would. Sometimes you simply do not need that much of an item. Perhaps the excess will just be sitting in your house. If it is a perishable item then the excess might literally get thrown into the garbage. Even if you are saving money “per unit” you might actually end up spending more if you just have to throw out part of it. You should think about how much of an item you need and whether you can really use all of it. Learn from the past. If you always end up throwing out some of their potato salad, for instance, then do not buy that again.
Go in with a list
You may avoid buying things at Costco that you do not need if you bring in a list of exactly what you need. You can try to go straight to those items and not browse around the entire store where you might see something that you impulsively purchase.
Costco is a great source for many items, but you want to avoid buying what you do not need. Consider the above tactics to help you avoid this habit.
