: Best Nutritional Foods for a Preschool Playgroup

(411 Words)
It is good practice to serve nutritional food to the children at a preschool playgroup. It is better for their bodies, and the parents will probably appreciate it as well. Of course, you also need to get food that the children will enjoy. Consider the following ideas for such fare.
Fruit
A lot of children love fruit, and this food group has a lot of nutritional benefits. There are many fruits that are easy to prepare and serve as well. You can consider serving blueberries, strawberries and grapes for instance (make sure you cut grapes for any very young children since they can be a choking hazard). Also, it is pretty quick to slice up some watermelon or cantaloupe, and many kids love to eat these. You can also slice up some bananas as well.
One nice thing you can do is to make a fruit salad. You can simply take the different types of fruit and cut them up for a delicious salad. The children will get a healthy variety of these foods, which contain many healthy nutrients.
Vegetables
A vegetable tray does not have to just be for adults. Even little kids often like to munch on some carrot sticks or broccoli florets. If you want to spice it up a little, then you can add something like some low fat dressing or a healthier dip. You can often buy whole trays at places like Costco or at your local grocer or you can make your own. You can also make a little healthy vegetable salad.
Yogurt
A lot of kids love to eat yogurt. They now make them in little tubes, such as the brand Gogurt, which are great to hand out at a preschool playgroup. You can buy ones that are naturally flavored and organic as well for added nutritional benefits.
Whole wheat breads
A lot of kids love bread. You can get some whole wheat bagels for them. You can also buy some 100% fruit preserves to have them put on it. You can also make little sandwiches with healthy fillings such as sunflower butter (or peanut butter if you have no allergies to contend with) and preserves. You can also have a food item such as pita that is served with a healthy hummus.
Just because a food is healthy doesn’t mean that it can’t be delicious, and this is a great lesson to teach preschoolers at your playgroups. Consider serving the above nutritional foods.
