How to Eat Sweets while on a Diet

If you have a very active sweet tooth, then going on a diet may be quiet the task. You may feel like you have no sweet options now that you are on a diet, however that is not true. There are many ways you can satisfy your sweet tooth while still enjoying all of the benefits of a healthy diet.
Eat fruit
Fruit can be extremely sweet and yet is generally low in calories and fruit. Even though fruit contains sugar, it is not unhealthy like added sugar. Try all of the different types such as bananas, strawberries, blueberries, watermelon, cantaloupe or more. Eat them alone or make a fruit salad. You can also use them to make an entire meal sweet. For instance, add some bananas to a sandwich. Instead of eating jelly that is full of calories and added sugar, crush fruit to make your own jelly.
Try sweetened cereal
If you want to snack on something sweet, then choose a lightly sweetened cereal instead of something with a lot of sugar. For instance, Cheerios is low in sugar and not high in calories. Snack on that instead of candy. Of course, many cereals are full of sugar and calories, so look around for the healthier versions.
Make a sweet meal
You can make an entire meal sweet with a good recipe. For instance make a low calorie stir fry with maple syrup. Take 5 lbs of stir fry vegetables and mix them with a sauce that is 2/3 cup of maple syrup, 2/3 cup of low sodium soy sauce, garlic to taste and a small amount of oil. Cook in a big stock pot. A serving contains very little maple syrup so it is not high is calories but it will taste very sweet.
Allow yourself a tiny amount of sweets
Instead of completely depriving yourself, allow yourself a small amount of sweets. Three chocolate chips can replace three candy bars. Take a sliver of cake instead of a big piece,.

In today’s health-conscious world you will find many low calorie, low sugar and diet versions of foods. Companies like Weight Watchers make a wide variety of desserts from cookies to cake to frozen desserts.
Just because you want something sweet doesn’t mean you have to sabotage your diet. Use the above techniques to meet both your cravings and weight loss goals.
