How to Find a Good Realtor
Not only can a good realtor sell your house quicker, he or she may even be able to get you a better deal. It is important to find someone that you are confident will do a good job. You can look for such a professional in different ways.
The first step that you might want to take is to ask people you know if they have anyone that they can vouch for. You can ask someone that you know has moved recently. The housing market has become a lot more difficult for a seller as of late, and just because a realtor was able to sell a home in the easy market a few years ago doesn’t mean that he’ll be able to sell yours now.
Once you find someone who has a recommendation to give you, you should get details. You can find out how much they sold it for and then do your own research to see if that was a good deal for the area. You can compare it to what other homes in the areas sold for. Also, you can find out how long it took them to sell the house. It may be more useful to find someone who had a similar housing area to sell because some people specialize in selling certain types of homes (i.e. more expensive homes). You can find out other details of the realtor such as how available they were, how many people they were able to get to see the house, etc.
You can also find out the realtor who sold some of the houses right near you. Someone who has more experience in your exact area and has had proven success may do better with your home.
You can also look at some of the more professional businesses. You may feel more comfortable if someone has the backing of a professional organization.
You can look at the experience that the person has. If they have been in the business for a long time and can give you a proven track record, then you might be more comfortable with them.
Many realtors will offer a free consultation. You can discuss your home and get a feel for what they think they could get you and how quickly they think it could be sold. You can compare that to what you think is realistic based on your own research.
Once you have a realtor, continue to evaluate his or her performance. If you are not under contract or if it ends, then consider making a switch if you are not happy.
