How to Lose Weight after having a Baby
(343 Words)
So you might not even look 100 percent like you did before you had the baby, however that doesn’t mean that you can’t look great! There are different strategies that will get you that body back.
Eat healthy
You should start by eating very healthy. You are no longer eating for two, and you should not act like it. Of course it is important to do any diet plan in moderation. Do not go on a crash diet that severely cuts calories because that is unhealthy, is unsustainable, can lead to eating disorders and can sabotage breastfeeding. Instead eat a reasonable amount of calories.
Avoid snacking on empty calories
You will probably be home a lot with a newborn. You may feel like you want to munch all the time. It is important not to snack on items like potato chips and candy since that will make it difficult to lose the weight and may even garner you more pounds. That doesn’t mean that you can’t meet your cravings, however. Instead of gobbling down unhealthy foods, find some foods that are low in calories that you can munch on. These include rice cakes, plain popcorn, carrots, celery, tomatoes, lettuce and other vegetables.
Gradually increase physical activity
You should also start to incorporate physical activity back into your life, taking care to follow the doctor’s guidelines during the postpartum period. Most women can start to walk right away, and this can be a great activity to do with a newborn. As soon as you are cleared to exercise you should do so. Try to do half an hour of cardio most days as well as weight training. This will help you melt away the pounds.
Breastfeeding
Another way to lose weight and provide for your baby is to breastfeed. Babies drink many of the calories that you consume through the breastmilk. If you’re able to do this, it can help you shed those pounds.
There are many measures you can take to get your pre-baby body back. Try all of them for maximum results.
