Make plans for your transportation. Many will choose to drive to their destination (if within a reasonable distance) so that a car will be available. If you cannot drive such as if you are travelling overseas, then make plans for renting a car.
Think about all of the little things that need to be done. Make a list to help you remember everything. Get extra medications or transfer the prescriptions to a pharmacy near your destination. Make a list of the items that you need to pack. Think about what is available there and what you may need to bring from home.
Besides planning for your trip away, you will also need to make plans for everything back at home. Because you will be gone for an extended amount of time, you will have to do things that a shorter trip would not necessitate. If anyone or anything is dependent upon you, then you will need to make plans for them. Make certain that you either have someone taking care of your animals or that you place them in a boarding facility that accepts long-term borders. Important people should have the information on where you will be and how to contact you while you are on your trip. Either get a house sitter or someone to come in to check on your house.
If you are going overseas, make sure that you have the proper vaccinations. You can also consider traveler’s insurance. Know what your current health coverage is and what you may need.
