So you want to get away for the weekend but you do not have a significant budget. It is not impossible. Consider the following affordable last minute weekend getaways.
Camping trip
A camping trip can be very reasonable. There are many places where you might be able to pitch a tent for the weekend. Many local parks offer camping. Some of these may charge a fee that is not too large while others may be completely free. There are many other natural areas that may work for you. You can get an inexpensive tent if you do not already have one, and you will be able to use it again and again. Get together the supplies that you need. You can spend the weekend going hiking through beautiful trails, watching unusual birds, playing sports with your family, telling stories over a roaring campfire and more. You can also bring along board games to play with each other. It can be a special time to make wonderful memories for the entire family to last for a lifetime, and it does not cost a lot. There is usually availability somewhere, which makes it perfect for someone who has to make the plans last minute.
Beach weekend
If you live near a beach, then this can be something inexpensive to do. First you need to find a reasonable hotel. Sometimes the hotels right on the beach are expensive, but oftentimes if you go just a little inland, you can get much better deals. Going to the beach is often very inexpensive or completely free if it is a public beach. You can spend your time relaxing in the sun. You can swim in the waters of the ocean. Your children can collect seashells and make sand castles. You can also go surfing or snorkeling if you bring the equipment.
Visiting family/friends
You can spend the weekend getting away to the people that you love the most. If you can spend the nights at the homes of your family or friends, then you can save the money of a hotel, and possibly some of the expensive eating out. You can explore free or low cost attractions such a zoo, nature center, shopping area or museum. You can make a deal that they can come and stay at your home the next time.
