In the month of March, you may want to have your students make an art project that is specifically related to the month. Consider the following ideas for such a project.
Winter to spring artwork
One important occurrence in the month of March is the melting of winter into spring. You can have the children make an art project to reflect this. They can draw a picture, for instance, that shows snow and a cold scene on the left side and then flowers on the right side. It can also show a time that is in between such as snow starting to melt and plants starting to bloom. They can use paints, colored pencils or other art tools to show this. Not only can this let them explore their creativity, but it can also be a great way to teach them about the seasons and how they change.
In addition, you may just want to do a spring art project since that is the season the children will be welcoming. They can make themselves a flower pot to put in the plants that will soon be coming. They can take a milk carton (make sure that it has been cleaned and sanitized) and then can cover it in construction paper. They can then decorate it with spring motifs such as flowers, birds, animals and so forth. They can also make a jar to use as flower vase or to keep other objects in. They can take a jar that was used for food such as an old applesauce or jelly jar. They can then use paint that is made for glass to decorate it with a spring theme. Make sure that the children are old enough to handle glass.
St Patrick’s Day art project
You may want to do a fun project to celebrate the Irish holiday of St. Patrick’s Day. The children can make a painting of a rainbow leading to a pot of gold, Leprechauns, four leaf clovers and other things from this lively holiday. They can also decorate a St. Patrick’s Day shirt with green fabric paints and markers and embellishments like sequins and beads.
There are many great projects that one can do during the month of May. Consider the above ideas. Make sure that with whatever project you choose, it is appropriate for the age of the kids or adapt it so that it matches with their coordination and other skills.
