: The best way to Deal with getting a Tipsy Guest Home
:
(440 Words)
Dealing with a tipsy guest is no fun. You may want them out of your house and home as soon as possible. Of course you will also want to do so in a way that is safe for both you and your guest.
The number one rule is to make sure that your tipsy guest does not drive. If he or she is too tipsy to drive, then getting behind that wheel could come with serious consequences. One of the lesser consequences could be being arrested for a DUI. In the worst case scenario he or she could end up in a car accident in which someone gets killed. Tell him or her that you will drive, take the keys, hide them or do whatever else you need to do to make sure that he or she does not drive. It does not matter how mad they are at you.
If you do not need to be home for any reason, then you can drive the tipsy guest home yourself. Try to keep things positive between the two of you. People react differently when they are tipsy. Some will be in a good mood but others can be belligerent. Of course you want to make sure that you feel safe with him or her. If you feel uncomfortable at all, then you need to look for a different solution. You do not want him or her to do anything while you are driving to get you into an accident.
If you need to be in the house such as if you have other guests or kids, then you may want to see if another guest is comfortable with taking him or her home. Make sure that the person is okay with this. It would be best if you can find someone who also knows them.
You may also be able to call a friend or family member of your guest to come and pick them up. Think about who would make the most sense. It may be their spouse, parent, child, sibling or friend.
If you cannot do it and you cannot think of anyone, then you can also call a cab. You may want to pay for the taxi in advance. Make sure that they know where to take them. You may also want to make sure that they take them straight to their home.
If none of the above solutions are available, then you may have to have him or her sleep it off a little bit until they sober up enough to drive. No matter what, just make sure that you choose a path that is safe.
