Tips for a Stress Free Laundry Day
Laundry day may not be the most fun of your days, but it is a necessary evil. Fortunately, there are ways to at least make it stress free. The following strategies can make this day as easy as possible.
Make sure that you have all of the supplies you need
You may get quite stressed on laundry day if you put all of your clothing in the washing machine and then realize that you have only half of the soap you need. In order to avoid the stress of this situation, you should make sure that you have all of the supplies that you need such as laundry detergent, fabric softeners, bleach, etc. It may be good practice to keep extra of these items so that if you are running a little lower than normal, you will still have what you need in order to do the laundry for the day. Also, make sure that you know where all of these are.
Gather all of the laundry
How many times have you run the entire laundry, feeling so good about getting it all done, only to find a dirty piece that should have gone in? That is very stressful and may be avoidable. Before you even start to do the laundry, you might want to get all of the clothes from all of the hampers (and floors) from around the house. Check to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything.
Put the laundry in piles before you start
If you have a space where you can do it (and you might just want to do this on your floor if you’ll be doing it now anyways) then make out the piles of laundry. Sometimes it is frustrating because one load ends up a little too big and you don’t know what to do. If you separate them beforehand then you can see the best way to balance the size of the loads with the colors/fabrics/etc. that should go together.
Also make sure that you know how the clothing should be washed. Read the tags if you are not sure. Laundry day surely will be more stressful if your clothing gets ruined.
Garner help
If it is the family laundry, then you can do it as a family. You can have the children bring in their own clothing, for instance. You can have people help you to fold and/or put away their own clothing. Just delegating a few of these tasks may make things a lot less stressful for you.
Laundry day does not have to be filled with stress. Use the above techniques to make this day pass painlessly and quickly.
