Traffic tickets are very common at night. It can be difficult to spot cops and so you may have one after you before you even see him or her. There are things you can do in order to avoid a traffic ticket at night. The following are some things you might want to consider.
Do not speed
Many people get speeding tickets at night. Again, the police have the advantage of dark, so you might not see them there waiting for you. If you do not speed then they are not going to give you a speeding ticket. You will want to make sure that you are aware of all of the speed limits. Also, look for speed traps where the speed changes dramatically. Oftentimes, cops choose a specific place in order to give tickets, so be very careful if you know of such a place. In addition to avoiding tickets, not speeding is also better safety wise.
Do not drink and drive
Not only will you avoid a ticket, but you’ll avoid getting arrested or even worse – hurting someone. It can be easy to have just a few too many and then get behind a wheel, but the ramifications can be great. You’ll end up with a major traffic ticket and much, much more if you get caught drinking and driving.
Do not run red lights
Especially on a quiet street at night, many people are tempted to run red lights while driving at night. You may be in a rush to get somewhere or just want to go home to go to sleep. You may be exhausted and not paying attention to what you are doing. If a policeman sees you running a red light, there is a good chance that he will give you a ticket.
Do not run a stop sign
Many people always stop for red lights but are much less careful when it comes to stop signs. Again, you might not see a police officer before it is too late, so you might want to be careful to stop at all stop signs. This is safer, anyways, and will help you avoid accidents.
Make sure that all of your lights are in working order
You want to make sure that all of your lights work. For some of them, it may be very difficult to tell while you are in the car, so every so often you might want to check with someone.
